Kelsea Capps started playing basketball just for fun. She has been playing for six years and continues to grow as both a player and a leader. When it comes to balancing school and sports, she works hard to keep up with her schoolwork. She tries to finish all her schoolwork during the school day. If she can’t, she makes sure to complete it right after practice.
Teamwork is very important to Kelsea. She believes teamwork means making plays with everyone on the court. She knows basketball is not just about one person. It takes the whole team working together to succeed.
Kelsea has big goals for the future. One of her short-term goals is to score her 1,000th point next year by the 10th game. This is a major goal for any high school basketball player, and she is determined to accomplish it.
She believes her biggest strengths are leadership, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. These qualities help her not only be a strong athlete, but also be a positive role model for others.
Like many athletes, she sometimes feels stress and pressure. When that happens, she talks to her friend Mylee to help work through it. Having someone to listen can make a big difference.
Outside of basketball, Kelsea enjoys spending time with her family and her boyfriend. Even though she is dedicated to her sport, she also makes time for the people she cares about.
Kelsea believes one of the biggest challenges young athletes face today is burnout. Many athletes feel like they have to be perfect all the time, which can be very overwhelming. She understands how important it is to stay balanced and remember why you started playing in the first place.
