The East Hickman Marching Eagles have been hard at work refining music, marching technique, and drill since spring, and it all seems to have paid off at the first competition of the season: the annual Rockvale Bands at the Rock Competition. Competing in class 1A against 3 other bands, the Eagles came out on top, earning first overall as well as outstanding music and outstanding general effect. This is the first time that the band has taken home 1st place since before 2014, when Mr. Greg Gunther took over the band director position, and potentially the first time in school history! Either way, it is truly a massive leap forward for the EHHS music program.

The Marching Eagles’ 2025 show “Medusa” conveys the heroic adventure of Perseus to slay the Medusa herself. With a small, but enthusiastic, group of students hard at work at bringing this show to life, the band and show has proved to be competitive. With such a monumental achievement to start out the season, the band is looking forward to working hard to push the limits of what the band program is capable of.
