This month’s athlete of the month is Andy Soxayaseng! Andy is a hardworking and dedicated student who plays football, soccer, and tennis. He first started playing sports as a sophomore, starting with football. Then, in his junior year, he started soccer and tennis.

Proudest Moment
Andy’s proudest moment this season was when he got his first sack in football during a game against Summertown. It was an exciting highlight of his season!
Game Prep
Before a game or match, Andy makes sure to stretch and get loose. Mentally, he likes to think through what he needs to do to stay focused and ready.
Biggest Inspiration
Andy says his teammates have been his biggest inspiration. They’ve helped push him to work harder and to do his best.
Tough Challenge
One big challenge Andy faced in football was a sudden position change. At first, he wasn’t sure about it, but he listened to his coaches and gave it his best. In the end, it worked out well!
Balancing School and Sports
Keeping up with both school and sports isn’t easy, but Andy makes it work by using and free time during class to finish his work.
Goals for the Season
Although the sports seasons are over now, Andy shared that his goal during soccer season was to help his team win the district.
His Advice for Younger Athletes
Andy’s advice is that, as much as football can be a tough sport, it helped him become a healthier person. So, in the end, it’s worth it.
Fun Fact
Here’s something surprising: Andy used to hate sports and didn’t like the idea of getting sweaty. Once he started playing, his whole view changed!
