This month, we’re excited to feature Carter Goodwin as our Athlete of the Month! Carter is a hardworking student and a talented athlete who always gives his full 100% on and off of the court. We got to sit down and talk to him and learn more about his goals, favorite sport, and inspirations.

Goals for the Future
When asked where he sees himself in five to ten years, Carter said “graduating college.” It’s clear that he’s focused on both sports and academics. In the next few years, he hopes to reach one of his short-term goals: “Starting on varsity.” With his dedication, we’re sure he’ll make it!
Love for Basketball
Out of all sports, basketball is Carter’s favorite. Why? “I’ve always played it,” he stated. It’s a sport that’s been a big part of his life, and it’s easy to see why he loves it so much. He looks up to Sharife Cooper, a professional basketball player who inspires him because “he’s my size.” It’s great to see how role models can inspire young athletes.
Challenges and Teamwork
Being a student-athlete isn’t always easy. Carter thinks the biggest challenge most athletes face is “trying to juggle school and their sport.” But he’s learned a lot from his experiences with the sport, especially about teamwork. “Everybody’s got a role,” he said. That shows how much he values each teammate and their contribution to the team.
Advice and Rituals
When asked about the best advice he’s ever gotten from a coach, Carter shared: “You gotta keep going through everything.” That advice has helped him stay strong and focused, even when things get tough. For pregame rituals Carter keeps it simple: “Don’t eat before I play.” This helps him stay focused and ready.
A Great Student- Athlete
Carter is a great example of what it means to be a student-athlete. His hard work, love for basketball, and focus on goals make him someone to look up to. We can’t wait to see what he accomplishes next!
