The 2024 Football season for East Hickman High School is going great! It has been very exciting for fans and players. This is the one of the best seasons to start for the East Hickman Eagles football team. The most wins in a season that East Hickman’s football team has had was seven, and after their win over the Mount Pleasant Tigers on Friday the current record is 7-1 as of now, and they are first in the standings of the 2A district. The last time that East Hickman won seven games in total was in 2013, 2020, 2021, and now 2024. If this team wins their next game against the Harpeth Indians on Friday then they will have broken a school record for the most games won in a season.
The head coach for the East Hickman football team is Chris Austin, and he has said that “This is the best start to a season that East Hickman has had. This season has been a first for many. “
The Eagle’s running back, Matthew Sloan, should be at the top of the list for an award for Mr. Football given his statistics this current season, along with many other accomplishments and records of his own that he has made and broken.
Matthew holds the school record of the most touchdowns scored in a season which is currently 17. He holds this record without the season even being over. Though without the impressive offensive and defensive lines led by seniors Kaiden Shupe 58, Eric Pantoja 56, Nathan Hobbs 24, and Andy Soxayaseng 10, these records could not be broken. The seniors and the team continues to break records not just for the team but for the school as a whole.

Their season is almost over with two games left; they will still continue on postseason in a playoff game. It is definite that the East Hickman Eagles will have a playoff game which will be at home. They are now just playing their final two games to see where they will rank in the playoffs. Coach Austin has said that East Hickman has a chance at finishing number one in the region which is yet another first for the team.
The connection between the boys on the team is actually amazing. They all have the same desire and want to win which is why their season is going great. Without this, the team might not be as good as it is this year. Coach Austin says that “Season has been very exciting thus far. Many people are shocked by our performance this year but our guys knew they could do something special.” These boys have absolutely shown up and shown out this year.
